Employment
for All (EFA) is a non-profit organization dedicated
to the ideal that access to employment should be available to
all persons with disabilities, regardless of severity or label.
Began in 1999, EFA is a joint effort of a small group of colleagues
who feel that it is necessary to clearly advocate for inclusive
employment opportunities by assisting systems, organizations,
employers, families and persons with disabilities to develop the
strategies and values needed for full access to employment. Among
its four founding members -- Joe Skiba, Norciva Shumpert, Melinda
Mast and Michael Callahan -- EFA brings over 100 years of experience
in the area of employment and rehabilitation services to the discovery
of solutions in employment services. While we are in no way connected
with Justice for All, the organization started by Justin Dart,
we honor and respect its mission by embracing a similar name based
on the idea that human values, opportunities and resources are
for all citizens.
In addition to our mission to promote full access to employment,
we at EFA feel that the generic resources available to any citizen
should be fully available to all persons with disabilities. We
also feel that all persons with disabilities, including persons
with the most significant disabilities, must have full access
to disability specific employment resources -- vocational rehabilitation,
developmental disabilities, mental health and social security
-- to become employed in jobs that meet their personal goals,
needs and preferences. To these ends, EFA seeks to form partnerships,
alliances and other working relationships with those who have
similar goals. We can provide project management services, sub-contract
services, functional research, consulting, technical assistance
and training and presentations on the following topics:
- System
change in vocational rehabilitation and developmental disabilities
services
- One-Stop
Career Centers and WIA activities that involve persons with
disabilities
- Personal
budgets, choice and control of resources by person with disabilities
- Discovery-based
personal assessments and person-directed employment plans
- Individually-tailored
job development
- Supported
employment including supported self-employment
- Planning
and implementing non-work life activities that compliment a
working life
- Employment
policy development and research
The staff of Employment for All represents a unique combination
of experience and expertise in advocacy, management and direct
support for people with significant disabilities. Each person
has spent a minimum of 15 years in the field and each brings national
respect and recognition to the organization. All have experience
directing large federal grants, managing project staff and resources,
and successfully reaching project goals. Many of the projects
our staff have managed have represented cutting edge aspects of
services and service delivery for people with significant disabilities.
These projects have set precedents for others to replicate and
follow. We developed professional relationships and friendships
during our years with the national office of United Cerebral Palsy
Associations (UCPA) and feel that it is important to continue
our work within a small, responsive organization. |
